Whether your goal is to be prepared for emergency or simply to be self reliant and off the grid, the Self Sufficiency Survival guide and manual will give you ideas to cover the basics of what you need. Keywords: survival guide, practical preppers, self sufficient, survive, off the grid living, survival food, self sufficiency, survival kits, doomsday preppers, how to survive, preppers, survival tips, survival skills, prepper, survival, self sufficient living, surviving disaster. If an earthquake struck today, or any other natural disaster, the power, water and sewage can be knocked out for extended periods, possibly months. So where do you go to the toilet? Although everyone talks about being prepared for an emergency event, very few actually know what to do when disaster strikes. And in these days of multiple uncertainties, ranging from economic fallout, increasing climatic extremes and earth changes, it pays to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.Regardless of whether your goal is for green living self sufficiency or emergency preparedness, the most basic necessities need to be addressed. These include water treatment, hygiene, ablutions, shelter, food treatment and storage, power generation, hot water, heating, fuel and transport. The Self Sufficiency Survival guide and manual will give you ideas for all of these. The most basic needs, like where to go to the toilet, is a common problem that happens in every such case, whether it be a Third World country or modern city. People in Haiti and also Christchurch New Zealand were still experiencing the effects over two years after their earthquakes.Converting a high-top van with simple low-cost techniques can make economic sense because you can use it for convenient weekend holidays away from home and it's handy if you need it in an emergency. However, if that's not possible, there are other things you can do.Ideally you'll prepare for an emergency event before it strikes - as the Chinese saying goes, better to fix the roof while the sun is shining. With a little imagination and determination it's possible to be self sufficient in our modern age, even when living in the city suburbs. In Indonesia they have public toilets that are completely self contained. The water system, the recycling of the wastewater, the filtration system is all done naturally. There are also hotels that employ that natural system, flushing out the industrial wastes and detergents using an eco-friendly natural system. The wastewater, including sewage is flushed into a chamber with a blade that breaks up the solids into slurry. After it's passed through a series of chambers in the filtering process, the liquid passes through a gravel reed bed, while the solids in the chambers break down through natural enzymes. The reeds and water plants in the gravel bed thrive on the constant supply of nutrient rich fluids and the water that comes out the other end is purified by the process. The water is then used to feed the gardens. The same thing is achievable for individual homes and small communities. The cost savings from getting away from reliance on public systems offsets the initial set-up costs. Of course, the journey to self sufficiency, like any journey, begins with the first basic steps. In the first section of the manual we'll cover the main items you'll need, starting with the easy to obtain and building up to "great to have". Depending on your living situation, you may not have the storage facilities for some of the larger items, but everyone can start with the basics, even if only on a small scale. These self sufficient living books include tips ranging from how to survive a natural disaster to family self sufficiency program. The self sufficient homestead gives the option of how to live off the grid with no money. These books about living off the grid homes also include guides of how to prepare for disaster survival

As things become more and more expensive and various operations are seemingly becoming more interdependent, many seek to be self sufficient in some way and not be plugged into the grid. It is something that can be carried out quite easily and effectively once one has the necessary tools on hand to get the job done. One great tool to have on hand is "Self Sufficiency: Getting Back To Basics." It can teach the reader how they can become self sufficient with certain practices. For instance instead of going to the market every week for fresh fruits and vegetables, it can be grown at home. If the space permits, small animals like chickens can be reared as well. Another thing that can be modified is finances. Many persons make the mistake daily of things that they should and should not do and end up getting deeper into debt. The author gives those viable solutions to self sufficiency. It is up to the reader to use it.

Daily, we witness widely fluctuating inflation; wars; interpersonal conflicts; national disasters; variances in weather conditions; innumerable forces of immorality, crime, and violence; attacks and pressures on churches, families and individuals; technological advances that make occupations obsolete; and so on. To me anyway this makes the need for preparation abundantly clear. I've always found that one of the greatest blessings of being prepared is that it gives us freedom from fear. The Boy Scouts have it right...Be Prepared! How many times have we watched someone on the news who has been of victim of a disaster? What is the theme? Oh, I'm so glad I was totally prepared for this and my family and I are doing great? NO! It's always -I never thought something like this would happen to me.- or -I thought I had more time to get ready for something like this.- or -If only I had been more prepared for the unexpected!- If only...how sad are those two words? It's too late to prepare for an emergency when you're right in the middle of it! I'm not saying this because I'm some overachiever prepper who has never faced want or need. No, this book came from a deep-seated need to help others avoid the pitfalls I myself have fallen into. I'm not saying you should go nuts and become fanatical, Gilly Suit wearing doomsday preppers living in an underground bug out shelter in the high mountains. What I am saying though is that there is a place between fanatical and nothing, and that is a good place to live. This book outlines concepts that provide measured and reasonable responses to preparing for impending emergencies or disasters. I want to teach you how to protect yourself and your family from the unexpected. There are a LOT of doomsday and SHTF prepper -experts- out there. There is an entire culture build around it. I'm not one of those people. I created the concept of Realistic Sustainability to be, oh, I don't know...Realistic! My dream is to make every home and family in this country and the world prepared for the unexpected. This is the first book in a series. This one will be a basic primer for the family for whom -preparedness- means buying an extra package of Fig Newtons -just in case- and when a big snow is predicted rushes to the store for bread, batteries and toilet paper. I'll explain the basics of food storage. What it is, what you should (and shouldn't) store, nutrition and how it affects your storage and how to go about doing amassing, using and rotating your storage items. I want your preparations to make life easier, not more stressful, but I want you to actually BE prepared. I want you to know all your options so that you can make an educated decision about your preparations too. Most of what I tell you about is from my own experience. I'll give you my opinions and tell you how I came to them. This doesn't mean I'm right. It' just means it might be something to try. Most of all I want you to avoid the food storage pitfalls some of my friends and acquaintances have fallen into. Trust me, you don't want to try feeding your toddler rice and beans for a week. It won't go well! OK, here's the thing. I'm not young. Or thin. Or in very good physical shape. I'm not a ripped ex-navy seal with a six pack and camo face paint. The only six pack I have are Twinkies, and my only experience in face painting consists of flowers on my cheek at an apple butter festival. I'm not your average -prepper-. I AM however, your average disaster victim. This means that nothing I tell you is impossible. You can do everything I suggest. How do I know this? Easy. If I can do it, YOU can do it!
